Vs s3 304 Ute won't crank

Hi everyone I'm having trouble starting my vs series 3 304 ute,
It will start straight away if i bypass the ignition switch at the starter motor with the key in and will run good and healthy but won't start unless I do this.
Does anyone have any clues to what it could be?
