Hey guys when I started the clutch dilemma thread awhile back I had just bought my ute now I have had it for 2300kms. So I got a bit more experience in the ute and hence more questions. So as most of you know it's a 2009 SSV ute with 6 speed manual. I initially (clutch dilemma) was of the opinion I would be up for a clutch soon. However I have been in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th and throttled on from 1500rpm no dramas, no slipping, so I'm somewhat sure that the clutch is ok. Driving normally, clutch feels ok. When I stick the boot in, with the odd clutch drop for a quick wheel squeal the clutch travel becomes very short and soft, I can actually put my toe under the pedal and lift it up a small amount. I've asked my mechanic about this and I need his response verified: the slave cylinder is inside the gearbox right beside the clutch, the clutch is getting hot and hence the clutch fluid is getting hot and the slave cylinder doesn't engage as well as the fluid is now very warm, this is why I can't get the same clutch feel when cruising or driving hard. Does this sound right?
On a side note saw the oil temp at 120c tonight, does this sound right?
Cheers fellas.
