Firstly got a 2009 SSV manual ute (just bought). It has an SS growler intake and cat back exhaust with only 2 mid mufflers no rear mufflers, I believe the cats are most like cosmetic too. On deceleration at about 2500rpm it gives off a narly burble. Love the way it sounds. Now, I also have a "mechanic" friend who has advised that the car needs an "edit" for several reasons being that I'm damaging the engine, the mods are useless with out edit, I'd actually get more power, I'd get better economy, blah blah blah. Is there truth to this? I'm just looking to drive to work and back with the odd squirt at the lights not looking to waste money or chase massive power, rather happy with how it is.
Secondly, so I'm guessing an edit is a change to the standard ecu programming. In my rice days we would just install a APEXi power fc, boost and done. So is an edit a program change or a whole new ecu? How much usually? And who in Melbourne does it?
