ve commodore front strut hat issue

hey guys,

ive had a bit of a look around the forums and havent quite found a answer to my question.
ive recently changed out the springs on the front struts on my ve commodore, upon re installation ive noticed that the strut hats are not sitting flush on the strut tower.
i would think this would allow unwanted movement please correct me if im wrong i. if i am wrong have any ideas where i have gone wrong on the rebuild of the strut?

any help would be great
